Living Games Festival in Bochum, Germany
Hilden, June 14th, 2008: The Living Games Festival, held on the 13th and 14th June 2008 by the Aruba Studios GmbH, is the first cultural festival about computer- and videogames in Europe.
This event’s purpose is „Offering gamers, parents, educators, people engaged in the cultural sector and everyone interested a view into the creation of games, presenting and discussing all the creative aspects of development.“ Visitors could among other things test various games, attend to interesting lectures, actively take part in the creative creation process and participate in panel discussions.
Among the attendees for example Nintendo could be found who presented the different possibilities of their new console Wii, as well as the young studio Z-Software, whose creativity enabled them to build up a Motion Capture studio on their own, thereby showing to the audience how Motion Capture Shots are done.
One of the panel discussion’s themes was „Careers in game development – Which jobs has the gaming industry to offer?“ Thomas Lagemann from Two Pi was one of the participators on the panel. The concern of Two Pi Team is to point out other ways to get into the gaming industry, besides being part of the development team itself. There is for example our own core field, the community work, but other fields as well like localization, quality assurance, the so called GM’ing and much more.
