Community Manager Conference: A Complete Success
Leipzig, July 16th, 2010: On Friday, 07/09/2010, within the scope of Games Convention Online the first Community Management Conference (CMC) took place in cooperation between Leipziger Messe and Two Pi Team. Numerous experts from the field Community Management presented the latest topics of the branch in speeches and panels.
Donna Prior, Sean Kauppinen, Martin Rabl, Jörg Koonen, Iain Compton are just a few known names – for most of the Community Manager and branch experts it was a must to attend the worldwide first Community Manager Conference.
The topics of the event ranged from the importance of Social Media for Community Management to the necessity of a good localization for the success of a product to the psychological characteristics within communities. Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. the visitors had the opportunity to actively take part in the discussions, deepen existing and establish new contacts. Due to the high-quality speakers it was not surprising that the conference met lots of interest – the opening speech itself was attended by more than 100 interested visitors and the following items on the schedule had constant numbers of visitors as well.
The high amount of visitors from different branches was remarkable during the whole CMC underlining the increasing relevance of the profession Community Manager outside the gaming branch. The ability to support the customers directly and to regulate opinions through special communication strategies, which are a trademark for this profession, are important parts to successfully place a product on the market. It is just a matter of time until Community Management will become a vital part for other economic sectors, too.
Small but International
The CMC was characterized by a broad international audience not at least because of the many internationally renowned speakers. Due to the huge success of the conference Two Pi Team already plans to enlarge the CMC in the following year: Two Pi Team is planning on making CMC a regular event. Regarding this the Non-Gaming-Sector will be paid more attention in future.
Two Pi Team is still of the opinion that internationally high-quality members of the branch are crucial factor to make the CMC a successful event for the host and for the audience. And because Community Management is all about the customer, Nadja Bastawi, Chief Visionary Officer of Two Pi Team, is glad about all the positive feedback from the speakers and participants. Thomas Lagemann, CEO of Two Pi Team, adds: “Many visitors travelled to Leipzig just because of the CMC.”
During its premiere CMC and by the high interest of the attendees CMC has proven that such an event has been missing before and that CMC is looking ahead a positive future.
